What you pay down

The monthly plan is $89 a month, and the down payment is as low as $0.

The domain name itself is not included. You pay the registrar’s price for it once, up front, as part of what you put down. Most names run about $15–$25 a year. A short or in-demand name can cost a great deal more, so if you want one specific name, that price is yours — I buy it at cost and register it in your name. Hosting, the server and the certificate stay part of the monthly.

What you actually put down depends on how much there is to build. A straightforward site — a handful of pages, your services and prices, hours, contact — usually starts at nothing down. A bigger job, such as a large menu, several locations, a lot of photography, or connecting an ordering or booking system, may carry a down payment.

I decide that number and tell it to you before you agree to anything. It never changes after you have agreed to it. If I get the scope wrong, that is my problem, not a new invoice.

What the monthly covers

Design and build, hosting and server care, and changes to your content made by me within two business days. Keeping your Google Business Profile accurate is included too. The domain name itself is not part of the monthly — see “What you pay down” above.

"Changes" means the ordinary running of your site: prices, hours, photos, staff, menu items, a new service, seasonal notices. Building something substantially new — an online store, a booking system, a second location, a redesign — is a separate job I quote before starting.

The monthly covers 5 changes a month. One change is one thing you ask me to alter: a price, your hours, a photo, a paragraph, a name on the staff list. Three things in the same email is three changes, not one. The count starts over on your billing date and unused ones do not stack up.

Almost nobody gets near 5. If you do, the ones after that are $50 an hour and I tell you the price first — nothing lands on your bill that you did not agree to. If you would rather not pay it, the extra changes can wait and go first in next month’s 5. That is your call to make, not mine.

Paying for the year

Instead of $89 a month you can pay $890 once for the year. That is 2 of the twelve months free — $178 off.

You can stop whenever you want, including before the 6-month minimum is up. The minimum still stands either way — it is the same commitment whether you pay by the month or by the year — so the first 6 months are not refundable. Whatever is left of the year after those, you get back.

So the most I can ever refund is 6 months. If you pay for the year and leave at month three, you are refunded 6 months, not nine — $445, half of what you paid. Leave later and you get back whatever is left of the year at that point.

Paying up front is a discount, not a leash. There is no month you can walk away in where it left you worse off than paying monthly would have.

How you pay

Nothing is charged from this site. After you have seen the preview and agreed, I send you a Stripe link. You pay by card or by debit from your bank. Recurring months stay on the card or account you used; a prepaid year is paid once.

The monthly plan’s 6-month minimum is part of this agreement. Checking out the Stripe link is you agreeing to these terms.

Who owns what

You own your domain. I register it in your name, not mine, and I transfer it to you whenever you ask, at no charge.

You own your content — your words, your photos, your prices, your logo.

I own the underlying template and code the site is built on, and I license it to you for as long as you are a customer. If you buy the site outright, that licence becomes permanent.

Cancelling

The monthly plan has a 6-month minimum, then continues month to month. After the minimum you can cancel any month, and you are not billed again. If you paid for the year, you get the months you did not use back — see “Paying for the year” above.

When you cancel you choose one of two things:

• Buy the site outright at the price quoted at the time, and take it with you.
• I take the site down and hand you your domain and your content.

I do not hold a domain, a login, or a set of files to make leaving harder.

Buying it outright

Starting at $750 one time. Hosting and server care afterwards is optional at $25 a month.

Changes after launch are $85 an hour, or $50 an hour for as long as you are on the $25 care plan.

That rate is how I work out a price, not how you are billed. You are never charged by the hour and no clock runs on you. I look at the job, tell you one price before I touch it, and that is the price you pay. If I judge a job small and it turns out to be a big one, the extra hours come out of my end — I will not contact you afterwards asking for more money, and there is no such thing here as a second invoice for the same job.

Getting the preview

The preview I build before you decide is free, and it puts you under no obligation. It is built from publicly available information about your business. It is not published to search engines, and I take it down whenever you ask.
