Thirty-eight seats, one long bar, no televisions
The building went up in 1908 as a dry goods store, and the C&O line ran close enough that the tin ceiling still rattles when a train comes through the East End. We kept the ceiling. We kept the floor. We took out everything else.
Deb runs the kitchen. Marcus runs the bar and will happily talk you out of the drink you ordered into one you'll like better. Between us we've cooked in this valley for twenty-six years, and this is the room we always wanted.
Come as you are. People show up here in work boots and in wedding clothes on the same night, and both are right.

Five growers, one butcher, one miller, all stops on the same short line. When their week is bad, the board changes. That's the whole arrangement.
